Artificial Intelligence and Franchising: Between Fantasy and Reality, the Field Speaks

Artificial intelligence is everywhere—and franchising is no exception. According to our latest annual survey by the Fédération Française de la Franchise / Banque Populaire / Kantar, 80% of franchisors see AI as an opportunity. But between exaggerated promises and unfounded fears, it’s time to demystify its real impact on franchise networks.

This is precisely what Nicolas Bécam, founder of Boulangeries Maison Bécam and Choc’oRoi, helped to do last Tuesday in Bercy, during the ministerial meeting on AI organized by Véronique Louwagie, Minister Delegate for Trade, Crafts, SMEs, and the Social and Solidarity Economy.

His testimony brought valuable real-world insight: refined sales forecasts through weather analysis, stock optimization, personalized customer experiences… AI does not replace humans, it enhances their impact, helping franchisees make faster and better decisions. The result: improved performance on the ground.

The figures confirm this trend:

  • 48% of franchisees see AI as a growth driver (+7 points vs 2023)
  • Young entrepreneurs (ages 18–34) are the most likely to adopt it (54%)

AI is not a magic wand. It is a powerful tool, but one that must be mastered, supervised, and supported. While some are still questioning its relevance, others are already using it to outpace their competitors.

That’s why 94% of franchisors support their franchisees in using digital tools, particularly to enhance customer communication. This support is essential to building a sustainable competitive advantage.

Franchising has always adapted to technological revolutions, and AI is no exception. At the Fédération Française de la Franchise, we are fully committed to helping our members understand the challenges of this transformation and turn it into a true performance driver.

AI does not replace humans—it amplifies their potential.
